I came across the robozo after searching for woven wraps for my youngest. I was looking for a babywearing wrap and found so much more.
The rebozo is a traditional Mexican shawl that is long enough to wrap around a woman’s body. It is typically used as a shawl or a baby carrier and is used during pregnancy and childbirth. The way the woman wears the rebozo is indicative of her marriage status and pregnancy status.
After learning more about the benefits of the rebozo for pregnancy and labor, I signed up to become certified. Gena Kirby’s class “Make the Partner Do It” taught me how to incorporate the rebozo in to my birth work.
